Predictable

Not dead, just glossing over some things I’d rather not post here.

Yesterday BAC held a Rally Organizers school to try and drum up some new organizers for TSD Rally in our area. I went along because I’m genuinely interested in how these rallies are done. I’ve competed in several and worked many more and its an absolute marvel to me that they work as well as they do. Well, now I’m going to become a lot more familliar with how they’re set up apparently since I’m going to be organizing one this summer. We’ll see if thats a good thing or not. When I told Daph I was going to be setting one up she wasn’t surprised, I guess this is the way of motorsports. Show some interest and suddenly you’re ‘hired’. :)

No details yet, it will be a Thursday evening rally either in June or July. (Another new crew will be running one in August) Start in Bedford and run in the Enfield area with a short (80-100km) stage and easy, newbie (and organizer) friendly directions. I’ll post more details here (and everywhere) when the schedule and events firm up. This is a great opportunity to increase competitor numbers. . . . I have a lot of work to do.

We’re also planning to do some Point Pleasant Park info sessions on Friday nights through the summer. Bring by some race/rally/slalom cars to park and chat up the natives about sanctioned competition in the area. We tried this a couple of times last year with some success. I think we’ve got a really good shot at generating some solid interest though even with the decline of Slalom events. Rally is ramping up again, race is turning into a much better spectator show and we’ve got a lot of fresh blood and fresh ideas bouncing around the clubs these days. Now we just have to get the Audi running. (And street legal, which may be the bigger challenge. :) )

I guess its been 31 days since my last post since today is the day I’d picked to get the Miata out. Thats not happening both due to fairly poor weather so far this spring and some other ongoing issues. Its safely tucked away in a spot it can remain semi-indefinitely at fairly low cost though, hopefully I’ll have it out sometime in May. I’m anxious to put the Flyin’ Miata sway bars on and see how that improves things. It needs some TLC with a valve cover gasket (AGAIN), plugs and wires though. Its got a nasty miss when its cold that makes it a little less than enjoyable at times.
